It is a personal honor and pleasure for me to be the Convener of hope 2000 - The International Conference on Substance Abuse and AIDS/HIV Prevention and Control. It is a great privilege to welcome this celebrated gathering of professionals from both these fields as a part of hope 2000.
            The problems of HIV/AIDS and Substance Abuse have been growing at alarming proportions over the last decade in India, and I have personally seen these problems affecting almost every strata of the social milieu of India. It has been my personal endeavor to combat these problems in any small way that I can and helping organize this conference has been one such step. It has been a very satisfying experience for me and I hope this conference will help in formulating both a global and an indigenous strategy aimed at combating both the Substance Abuse and AIDS / HIV problems.
