Bio-data:
Dr. Lorena Siqueira is a pediatrician at the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center at New York, USA. She has also served as the Clinical Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. Currently she also serves as the Director of the "Stop Nicotine Addiction Programme." She has also served in a number of sub-speciality boards of adolescent medicine.
Topic of Presentation:Prevalence Patterns and Correlates of Recent Marijuana Use Among Sexually Active Female Adolescents and Young Adults.
Abstract:Marijuana continues to be the most commonly used illicit drug among high school students in the USA with surveys indicating increasing lifetime use. The objective of this paper was to determine the prevalence of recent marijuana use among a sample of sexually active adolescents and young adults and to examine differences between health risk behaviours of those with any monthly use versus heavy users of marijuana.

Dr. Yusuf Merchant, is one of India's leading anti-drug crusaders.He is the Founder President of Drug Abuse Information Rehabilitation & Research Centre, that is actively involved into research of use, misuse and abuse of drugs, since 1983. D.A.I.R.R.C. is one of India's leading N.G.O., committed to substance abuse prevention strategies, including treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, implementation of drug demand reduction strategies and research in the causes and effects of drug abuse. He has authored several books on Narcotics, including a 515 pages anthology on Narcotics, published by the Commission of European Communities.
Topic of Presentation: The Drug Resistance Education Program - A Case Study.
Abstract:The Drug Resistance Education Program is a social skills training, implemented in 413 schools in Maharashtra, under a 100% grant from the Commission of the European Communities. The objective of this paper was to present an evaluation of this specific intervention strategy, that was targetted on children in the 6th standard. (Total number of beneficiary students were 17, 041 in the period 1992 - 1994).

Professor Viljoen is the Head of Department, Department of Human Genetics, South African Institute for Medical Research, Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a medical geneticist with his main interest lying in the delivery of community genetics in third world nations. His principal research interest lies in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS).
Topic of Presentation: Perspectives of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.
Abstract: Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is due to the teratogenic effects of heavy maternal alcohol ingestion on the fetus. The disorder comprises severe neurological sequelae (reduced IQ, behavioural abnormalitites), growth disturbances, organ system anomalies and a characteristic facial appearance. The paper examined various perspectives of FAS in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.

Mr. Suresh Mhatre is the Head of HR Sourcing at Tata Consultancy Services. He heads the team that is the largest single recruiter of technical manpower in India. He is amongst the first of the new breed of HR managers in the IT industry with a technical background. He also heads the Project Allocation Group which matches skills with project requests. He spearheads the TCS effort to move to a higher strategic orbit of providing business solutions rather than only IT solutions.

The equivalent of all the e-mails sent around the world in 1989 happens in one day now. That is the reality of the speed and extent of change through which we are all now living, for which many companies are responsible.
